Good afternoon everyone! Today’s post is relative to upselling services at the park! Upselling can at times feel pushy, but it doesn’t have to be! The key to successfully upselling a customer is not to exploit or trick them into paying more, but to provide them with real value and, most importantly, more fun! The skill becomes more natural with time the more you practice. Remember, if you don’t ask, the answer will always be no.
For example, if a young family with 5 and 7 year old children are interested in the children’s ropes course ($10), you could suggest they also purchase a bounce house pass for an additional $10. By suggesting the bounce house, you doubled the amount they were going to pay (from $10 to $20 per child) and provided two children with a fun day.
To give another example, say a family comes to the park at 10am. They explain they just moved to Orlando from New Jersey and are so excited to spend the day with us and have fun. They show interest in the tower and aqua park, but express hesitation about wakeboarding because “they’ve never done it” and they “don’t think they can do it”. Rather than agree and cash them out for aqua and tower ($40), you could inform them that for an extra $7 they could buy an all-day park pass and enjoy the entire park all day. With the all-day pass, their time will not be limited on time on the tower or aqua park, and will be able to wakeboard if we encourage them to give it a try. Encouraging customers and giving them the confidence to step out of their comfort zone is one of the greatest things we can do for our customers at Nona Adventure Park. Who knows, maybe one of them finds she is a skilled wakeboarder and becomes one of our best customers this summer!
