In the event of an emergency please follow the steps below:
- Once an incident is identified immediately activate the EAP
- Do this by sounding 3 (Three) blasts on the air horn by the operators stand, on the 2.0 remote, or for Aqua Guides use the whistle you have with you
- Radio it in. Inform the staff of where the emergency is by using the Radios.
Remember to speak clearly and calmly
- Designate where the incident has occurred (Main Cable, 2 Tower, Aqua Park, or Climbing Tower)
- Designate the closest feature, obstacle or tower number (kicker, funbox, etc.)
- Repeat yourself at least 2 times
Accident on Main Cable System
Sample Call in:
“Main Cable to all areas”
“Main Cable to all areas”
“We have a signal 30 at tower 3”
“We have a signal 30 at tower 3”
(Signal 30 is code for a serious accident)
Main Cable Operator Tasks:
- Immediately start pulling riders off the lake using the fork
- Do not E-Stop the cable unless necessary to prevent danger to riders
- In-between “forking” riders off the cable prepare the kneeboard, rescue tube, life vest for when help arrives
- After help has arrived or the cable is cleared of danger, send a rescuer after the victim on kneeboard via cable if safe or instruct them to go on foot, depending on the location
- Proceed with appropriate care
Two Tower Cable Operator Tasks:
- Hit the emergency stop on cable
- Instruct any riders to get out of the water and leave the dock area
- Immediately proceed to the main cable operator station and prepare for rescue
Life Guards Tasks:
- Sound horn and evacuate aqua park
- Closest two lifeguards should grab backboard, radio and first aid kit and go immediately to main cable dock for direction
- Additional guards will oversee the evacuation of aqua park, if no additional guards are present, instruct Tower staff to oversee evacuation
- Proceed with appropriate care
- If boat is needed, manager or cable operator will be in boat and prepared to transport lifeguards to the scene
Manager on Duty Task:
- The Manager on Duty will respond to the emergency either using the cable, boat, or on foot with first aid in tow (first aid kits and backboards are located at Aqua and Main Cable)
Proshop Tasks:
- The Pro Shop supervisor or next in charge will call 911. They will wait for EMS to arrive and direct them to the location of the emergency
Downgrade
In the event the fallen individual is not seriously injured, the first responder may call off the EAP by blowing the whistle 3 times
